Cathay Pacific logo history

The iconic Cathay Pacific airlines logo has been a part of the company’s identity since its inception in 1946, when it first flew from Hong Kong to Shanghai. Over the years, the logo has gone through several iterations, evolving to reflect the airline’s growth and changing times.

The original logo, designed in 1948, featured a stylized dragon flying within a circle. This design symbolized the airline’s connection to the Far East and was meant to be both iconic and timeless. The logo was revised in the 1970s to add more of a modern feel and to reflect the airline’s growing international presence.

The next change to the logo came in 1997, when the traditional dragon was replaced with a modern-looking phoenix. This was meant to show the airline’s commitment to the future, as well as to symbolize the airline’s growth and success. The phoenix has remained the centerpiece of the Cathay Pacific logo ever since.

Cathay Pacific’s latest logo redesign came in 2014, when the airline decided to simplify the design and make it more contemporary. The phoenix was replaced with a sleek and modern letter “C”, which was meant to represent the airline’s commitment to customer service, as well as its global reach.

Throughout its history, the Cathay Pacific logo has been a symbol of the airline’s commitment to excellence. It has evolved to reflect the changing times, while still maintaining its timelessness and iconic status. The logo is a reminder of the airline’s long and storied history, and it will continue to be a source of pride for many years to come.
